This pic was taken
during our Honeymoon
on Assateague Island. April 26, 1987,
I scattered his ashes there on what would
have been our 11th anniversary,
this past April 25, 1998.
This page is
dedicated to the memory of George Fredrick Kite IV
a.k.a Rick
(Ricky by his family, and Daddy by Sarah & Jake)

May 9, 1963 -
November 29, 1997

Rick was taken from
this life
at the young age of 34 by AIDS.
He was a loving
husband,
(This is our wedding picture)

and a devoted
father.

This pic was taken the
day sarah was born,
August 3, 1990, one of his proudest moments

This pic was taken
Halloween 1996

These pics were
taken August 1997 at Sarah & Jake's Birthday Party
(just a few months before his death)

Sarah & Jake
were always his #1 priority,
no matter what, they always came first.

Rick was diagnosed
with AIDS spring of 1995.
He lived life to the fullest right up to the end.

He wanted the world to know that "regular"
people got AIDS too, and how it affected
everyone in the world, not just "those" people.

It always
bothered him that there was a "stigma"
attached to AIDS and he did his best to teach
people the facts, and try to dispel their fears.

He learned in the
last years of his life who his
true friends were, and he cherished them dearly.
(Though he wasn't good at showing this to everybody)

Fortunately, he had
more REAL friends than not.

Unfortunately, there
were some who refused to
continue to see Rick as the person he always was,
sick or not, and this broke his heart.

He loved to bowl,
which he did at least
twice a week,(sometimes 3 or 4!)
He belonged to leagues at Sunset Bowl
in Richmond.
His bowling peers never
treated him any differently after they
learned he had AIDS, and for this He
(and I) was ever grateful.

He was a very good
bowler
and he once had a dream to go pro.
He received
many trophies and patches
that the children have displayed in their
playroom and show off to all of their friends.

Fishing was another
of his passions.

This pic was taken
Spring of 1990
(If he wasn't at the
bowling alley,
you could bet he was down at the river!)
It didn't matter
what the weather was,
he was always looking for an
excuse to go fishing!

Video Games was
another of his
favorite things. If he couldn't go
bowling or fishing, he was home
playing a Video game! He and my
Father exchanged games and systems
often, and always played when together.

Golf was a hobby he
didn't often get
to play. He did play with his Grandfather
whenever he went to visit his family
in Indianapolis.

He also loved roller
coasters of any kind!!
Busch Gardens was his absolute favorite
Park. We went the first Mondayafter the
park opened in the spring every year, usually
with his sister Mary Alice. It was a birthday
present for the both of them, as that Monday
always fell between their Birthdays.

Rick was a roofer
before he got sick,
and it was the one thing he loved
to do more than any other.
It didn't seem to matter how hot it was,
or how cold it was, he went to work.
He never wanted to do anything but be a roofer.

And a damned fine
roofer he was too!
(and I'm not just saying that cuz I'm
prejudiced, many good roofers who knew
Rick have said the same!)

Please check out the
sites below

This site is a good one to learn more about HIV and AIDS
and how YOU can GET INVOLVED in the fight against this
horrible deadly disease.

This site is all
about the AIDS Memorial Quilt.
Rick and I went to the display of the Quilt in D.C. in '96
It affected both of us a great deal. We even
sketched out a rough draft of a panel for him.
(one day I'll find that sketch and make the panel!)

There are many
things I want to put on this page, but it's turned out to be
harder then I ever expected it to be, so please be patient with me while I
work on this page and give Ricky the kind of page I know he'd be proud of.
Come back and see
what a great person Ricky was!
Check the Rick's Pics Page to see pics of his family,
Be sure to check out the Remembrances Page too.
